Russian firefighters are still battling to contain the fires sparked by the country’s worst heat wave since records began. It all started because of a dry heat wave and little rain. It is said that the fire started in a wheat field in the country. The fires grew rapidly and spread to the forest. One area had toxic chemicals, which quickly the fire spread to. The smog from forest fires has tripled in size over the weekend has been choking the capital, forcing many to flee and doubling death rates in the city. The elderly has been getting hit the worst. Parents have been trying to keep there children safe from the toxic. One woman even put damp cloths over the windows to keep the toxic air from coming in.

The fire has cause Russia millions of Grevnas to control. Just as the fire was getting under control, another wave started. One fire fighter says “Just one cigarette bug can light this place up” Another one said “This fire is spreading like there is gasoline pored all over the land”. Even when it rained, the fire wasn’t stopped. After days of fighting, fire fighter finally got the flames out. Russia was really hurt by this natural disaster.
